If you are visiting the South Side of Maui you are in for a treat with the beautiful beaches located in that area. Some of the South Maui beaches in the Wailea area make for the top locations for a photoshoot to take place at here in Hawaii. I’m sure you can guess what I am about to say next but if you’re visiting island you should 100% think about scheduling a photoshoot for your family during your vacation.

If that sounds good to you here are a few tips for a south side Wailea or Kihei photoshoot :

  1. Morning = Way less crowds

Evening = Less wind than other areas on island for a photoshoot to take place

If wanting a photoshoot on a Wailea or Kihei beach with less people I highly recommend a morning photoshoot . With the resorts and vacation rentals that line the South side’s coastline it tends to have a lot of foot traffic + beach goers with how accessible the beaches are. Simply put mornings = more open beaches. However, it is some clients’ dreams to have a sunset photoshoot here in Hawaii. If that is the case the South side tends to have calmer weather making it great for those early evening sessions. With it being less windy do expect a number of other photoshoots and beach weddings as well as others enjoying the beach to be present. This beach that is the location for the session in this post tends to have anywhere from 5-20 other parties on it in the early evening timeframe for photos so just a friendly heads up beforehand. Though more people doesn’t mean a gorgeous photoshoot cannot take place , we just work the angles while we have a fun time on the sand together. * Booked clients will receive access to my Locations Guide that has a list of the best AM and PM beaches on the South Side for photohsoots.

  2. Do not be afraid of photos in the water. The coastline on the south side is perfect for getting those captures in the bright blue water. Big perk about a tropical location is how warm the water is - enjoy your time here and soak up this forever summer vibe with some water shots during your photoshoot.
