Choosing where to take your Maui photos is one of the biggest decisions you’ll make when planning your session and with so many beautiful beaches to select from, it can feel a little overwhelming.
The good news ? Every location offers something different. Some beaches are perfect for families with young children, while others are ideal for adventurous couples, intimate elopements, or dramatic sunsets.

Palauea Beach aka White Rock
Located in Wailea, White Rock ( Palauea Beach ), is one of my favorite locations for sunrise photography sessions on Maui. With wide stretches of sand, soft morning light, and a peaceful atmosphere, it’s a beautiful choice for families, couples, maternity sessions, and vacation portraits. If you’re hoping for a relaxed beach experience on a beach tucked away from the hustle and bustle of resorts White Rock is one of my favorites to recommend.
Kapalua Bay
Nestled along Maui’s West Side, Kapalua Bay is one of my favorite go-to locations for sunrise photoshoots. The stunning morning light, tropical scenery, and gorgeous coastline make it an incredible choice for families, couples, and surprise proposals. If you’re staying in Kaanapali or anywhere on the West Side of Maui this is a wonderful option.
Makena Cove
Known for its dramatic lava rock, turquoise water, and intimate setting, Makena Cove is one of Maui’s most iconic locations for surprise proposals, couple sessions, elopements, and small weddings. If you’ve been dreaming of a romantic beach with breathtaking scenery, Makena Cove is the perfect place to be.
