This session was a lovely combination of two my favorites : capturing the love between two people + adventure. When most think of the Hawaiian islands images of it’s gorgeous sandy beaches and lush rainforests is what mainly come to mind. When we moved to Maui our family had originally stayed on the island’s south side. However, when we made the jump over our home and our jobs ended up being located on the West side. Other than Lahaina’s front street and the beaches in front of the resorts I did not think the west side had much to offer but goooooodness was I wrong ! Upon taking a drive down the highway I soon discovered that the west side was FULL of hidden gems such as Nakalele Blowhole. When this beautiful couple reached out for a session and stated they were also staying on the west side + would like a location with some beautiful views I knew the blowhole was going to be the perfect place. We began our shoot along the side of the road which was alongside some breathtaking sea side cliffs . The ocean was on one side of us while the West Maui mountains stood proud on the other side. Along with the stunning views since it was currently whale season every few minutes we would see a whale or two swimming past us which was pretty dang magical. After about fifteen minutes of laughing, dancing, and capturing their sweet kisses we drove two minutes down the road to the blowhole. While photographing this beautiful pair a rainbow appeared in the ocean behind them. AGAIN FOLKS MAGIC ! We decided to hike down to the blowhole ( which I definitely recommend wearing either good walking shoes or hiking shoes for the climb down ) and due to it being close to sunset we were lucky enough to have the blowhole to ourselves. Our time at that spot seemed to pass quickly as we soaked in the beauty of the water and literally speaking got a little soaked ourselves from the spray. With the sun starting to dip into the ocean we finished the session dancing in the road with the mountains in the background.
