Sunrise on Haleakala

The wake up call at 2AM was well worth braving the below freezing temperatures to watch the sun rise on top of Maui’s Haleakala Volcano. This event is limited to the number of people who may be on top of the summit in the early morning hours so a reservation through the Haleakala National Park website is required for the low fee of $1 + a $30 entrance fee upon arrival. Though the rest of Maui may be warm the summit is not. When packing for your travels to the island if you plan whether for sunrise, a day trip, or sunset to make a stop to Maui’s volcano be sure to pack WARM clothes. Using a towel as a blanket or bringing an actual blanket is not a bad idea so that you can keep from turning into a human popsicle. This truly is was an experience that I will not soon forget anytime soon from the beauty of the sun lighting up the islands.
