A Family Session in Lahaina, Maui

As we head into the winter season here on island I view it completely opposite of the winter on the mainland/other parts of the world where here it is the most colorful time of the year.

Winter is when the islands receive the most rain which can make sessions a tad tricky depending on how much rain is forecasted but for the most part it makes for some pretty amazing sights. Rainbows pop up EVERYWHERE ( which really explains why we have a rainbow for our license plates ), whales arrive , hills become greener, flowers are blooming all around the island, swells roll in making for big blue waves, and sunrise/sunset have more color with the hint of rain that hangs around. Though I may have lived here long enough to be pretty cold when the temperature hits 75 (I know, I know that should be a comfortable degree ) winter is absolutely my favorite time of year here.

With this in mind it’s the perfect time for an early morning session down in Lahaina. What better way to start the day than on a stunning beach in Hawaii where you can watch whales breach in front of you and turtles pop up along the shoreline all before breakfast. It’s also the place to go if rain does hit the island since Lahaina is the one place that stays pretty dry due to the West Maui Mountains that help to block any large clouds.

So cheers to winter in the tropics - snow is fun but it’s never a bad idea to escape to an island full of color in this colder season.
