An Early Morning Photoshoot at the Andaz Wailea

Up With the Sun in Wailea

As much as I talk up the West Side of Maui the beaches on the South end in Wailea are some jaw droppers. This stretch of beach is located in front of the Andaz Resort in Wailea and is one of my absolute favorites for early AM photoshoots. The sun is just peeking up over our volcano Haleakala , sunlight filtering through the trees that line the beach, and little streams of light dance on the sand. The West Maui mountains make for a dramatic backdrop with the dark shadows contrasting the areas that the sun has started to bask over. Overall it feels as though you have stepped into a painting with all of the gorgeous tropical scenery surrounding you.

This adorable family met me early in the morning with two little ones who were right at home on the sand. Matter in fact these adorable littles were up before the sun ready to embrace the day ! As a parent myself I know all too well how much of a task it can be when trying to get the family ready and out the door in the morning time. When going on vacation it is just that - vacation. A time to relax, explore, and sleep in. Though parents with little ones let me let you in on something before you venture to Hawaii : Kiddos are up early. What?! One would think that the time in the sun, change of surroundings, and island playing would have them sleeping in. It will give them a solid night’s sleep BUT with the time difference here they are able to rest and still wake up with the roosters. This also means as the day begins to wind down here in Hawaii they are up far past their normally scheduled bed times and tired which is a big thing to keep in mind when scheduling a photoshoot for which time of day would work best for your family.
