Orange County Family Photoshoot Irvine
Growing up in Tustin, California I remember when strawberry fields, orange groves, and avocado trees used to make up most of the land in Irvine. Though as we know time has a way of changing things where over time a majority of those fields were replaced with subdivisions and shopping centers. However, with the changes came something fun and new called The Great Park. My friends and I were in high school when the park was first constructed where we would spend weekends checking out each new section that was built which at the present time was the art center, plane hanger, carousel, and hot air balloon. All of this seemed very next level and modern. It also made for some “cool” looking Facebook photos which again during that day was all the rage to upload new photos almost on the daily as a teenager.
Years passed and the park grew. After college when moving back to California I visited the park and was amazed at all of the new additions yet how the main attractions looked the exact same which I found comforting against the fast paced growing vibe of California. During my visits I couldn’t help but think how magical it would be to have a lifestyle session at the park. Fast forward time again to past year with all my trips back to California I made a list of places I wanted to shoot at with the park included. January of this year that vision became a reality.
I had first met this beautiful family featured in this post when photographing them here in Hawaii in the fall of 2022. The mother and I instantly bonded over us both being photographers AND having attended the same small ballet studio as children in my hometown - truly what a small world ! With them living in Orange County on my first trip of the year knowing I would be in the area we decided to make a California family photoshoot happen. I pitched the idea of a session at the park and with them having lived in Irvine they were 100% in. Shout out to clients that are up for a creative vision and a good time !
Deciding what to showcase here for this session was difficult since the entire shoot was an absolute dream ! With having little ones along with some posed updated family photos to include their littlest daughter we just went with the flow. Letting their oldest daughter play on the playground, go up in the hot air balloon, and get a fun carousel ride in. This session will definitely live on as one of my favorites.
